On October 30, 2023, Prof. Yu Tiejun, President of the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU), was invited to attend the 10^th Beijing Xiangshan Forum held in Beijing from October 29 to 31 under the topic "Common Security, Lasting Peace." On the afternoon of the 30^th, President Yu chaired discussion in the second half of the first parallel group session with the topic "Security Trends in Northeast Asia and its Shaping." Participants in the discussion included Masuda Masayuki, Head of Asia and Africa Division at the National Institute for Defense Studies of Japan; Yang Xuguang, Senior Advisor to the China Institute for International Strategic Studies; Chad Sbragia, Researcher at the Institute for Defense Analysis and former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for China in the Office of the U.S. Secretary of Defense, and Marjorie Vanbaelinghem, Director of the Institute for Strategic Research at the Ministry of the Armed Forces of France, among other Chinese and foreign experts. That evening, President Yu attended a closed-door seminar on Sino-U.S. Crisis Management where he engaged in in-depth exchanges with nearly twenty Chinese and foreign experts on related issues.
