Matthew Yi, First Secretary of the U.S. Embassy in China, Pays a Visit to IISS, PKU

On August 22, 2024, Mr. Matthew Yi, First Secretary of the Political Section at the U.S. Embassy in China, and Ms. Irene Wang, the Political Officer, visited the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU). They engaged in discussions with Prof. Yu Tiejun, President of IISS, on topics including the situation in Northeast Asia, regional hotspot issues, U.S.-China relations, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

Mr. Yi pointed out that U.S.-China dialogue and cooperation on regional security issues are in the best interests of both China and the United States. Prof. Yu Tiejun reiterated China's commitment to maintaining regional peace and stability and creating a favorable international environment for advancing Chinese-style modernization. Both parties expressed their hope for enhanced exchange and cooperation in academic and other fields between the two countries in the future.
