On July 2, 2024, Maj. Gen. Shahid Mahmood Kayani, Retd, President of the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) in Pakistan, and Zhang Wei, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute in Islamabad, visited the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS) at Peking University (PKU) with their escort. They discussed with Prof. Yu Tiejun, President of IISS, the cooperation between China and Pakistan in academic research and non-traditional security, among others. Research Assistant Chen Danmei from IISS also attended the meeting.
