From June 30 to July 4, 2014, Wang Jisi, Professor of the School of International Studies (SIS) and President of the Institute of International & Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU), and Wu Bingbing, Associate Professor of the School of Foreign Languages and Special Research Fellow of IISS, PKU, paid a visit to Washington D.C., the capital of the U.S. and attended the “Workshop on International Security in East China Sea” held by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). During this period of time, they met with Daniel Russel, Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian affairs and Evan Medeiros, Senior Director for Asian affairs at the U. S. National Security Council in the Obama administration. They also met with experts from the Research Center for China at Brookings Institution, including Jeffrey A. Bader, Richard C. Bush III, Kenneth G. Lieberthal, Jonathan D. Pollack and David Dollar, as well as experts from CSIS, including Bonnie S. Glaser and Christopher K. Johnson, directors of China studies, and Michael J. Green, expert of East Asia issues. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on Sino-U.S. relations, Asia-Pacific security and other issues.
