At the invitation of Deakin University, La Trobe University, Australian National University and Sydney University, Prof. Wang Jisi, President of the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU), Prof. Yan Xuetong, President of Institute of Modern International Relations, Tsinghua University, and Prof. Jia Qingguo, dean of the School of International Studies at Peking University paid a visit to and delivered speeches in the four universities in Australia from April 4th to 8th, 2016. The visit was unveiled on April 4th in Melbourne business center of Deakin University.
During the roundtable expert talks on Chinese and Regional security, Prof. Wang, Prof. Yan and Prof. Jia gave wonderful keynote speeches on Chinese and International order, relations with neighboring countries under the balance of power between China and the US as well as cooperation between China and the US, respectively. Specialists and scholars from universities and think tanks as well as media representatives had a lively discussion with the three professors on foreign relations of China and regional situation. Before the roundtable talks, Prof. Jane den Hollander, President of Deakin University met with and extended warm welcome to these visiting professors.
On the evening of April 4th, the three professors delivered public speeches in the lecture hall of Victoria state library and answered a wide range of questions to the audiences’ interest. These well-known Chinese scholars’ visit to Australia on international relations was initiated by Doc. Pan Chengxin from Deakin University and fully supported by the four universities and Australian research foundation in China.
