Associate Prof. Guan Guihai, Executive Vice President of the IISS, PKU Pays a Visit to Russia and Israel

At the invitation of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Associate Prof. Guan Guihai, Executive Vice President of the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU) attended the 3rd Primakov Forum and the International High-Level Think Tank Dialogue Conference in Moscow on May 29-31, 2018, and delivered a keynote speech on a series of issues, including the “so-called” competition from China for the infrastructure construction in the Indo-Pacific region. After the conference, Associate Prof. Guan Guihai met several Russian experts, including Mr. Andrey Kortunov, Director General of the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), Mr. Ivan Safranchuk, an expert on Central Asian issues at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University), and Mr. Igor Denisov, an expert on China-related issues, and conducted with them further academic exchanges and discussions.

 

Following this conference and at the invitation of the Chinese Embassy in Israel, Associate Prof. Guan Guihai, as a member of the delegation of Chinese think tank scholars, from July 3 to July 7 paid a visit to several institutions in Israel, including the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), the Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA), 2018, and participated in some relevant academic exchange activities. During his stay in Israel, Prof. Guan also exchanged views and opinions with some Israeli experts on a series of issues, including Russia’s adjustment to its Middle East policy.
