On November 11th-16th, 2018, Prof. Wang Jisi, President of the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU), headed a group of scholars to pay a visit to Washington, D.C. and New York. The group of scholars is the Chinese project team of the China-U.S. cooperation project of the "Asia-Pacific Community Initiative" supported and sponsored by the China-United States Exchange Foundation (Hong Kong). Members of the group are: Prof. Wang Jisi, President of the IISS, PKU, Assistant Prof. Gui Yongtao, Assistant President of the IISS, PKU, Hu Ran, Director of the Chinese project team, Li Wei, Professor of the School of International Studies, Renmin University of China, and Wu Xiangning, Assistant Professor of Department of Government and Public Policy, University of Macau. On November 12th, the group and the U.S. project team held a one-day symposium. On November 13th, Wang Jisi and David Lampton, Professor of the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University and Head of the U.S. project team, had a dialogue entitled "Future China-U.S. Relations Assessment and Asia". The dialogue attracted an audience of over 120 people. Ms. Luan Yutao, Senior Project Director of the China-United States Exchange Foundation, also participated in the above activities.

On November 13th-14th, the group of scholars visited the U.S. Department of State, the National Security Council of the U.S., the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), the Brookings Institution, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), and other institutions in Washington, D.C. On November 14th-16th, Wang Jisi and Hu Ran arrived in New York and visited former officials and entrepreneurs, including: Henry Kissinger, former U.S. Secretary of State, Michael Bloomberg, former Mayor of New York City and CEO and owner of Bloomberg L.P., Robert Blackwill, former U.S. senior diplomat and former U.S. Ambassador to India, and Evan Greenberg, Chair of the U.S.-China Business Council and a famous entrepreneur. They also visited the National Committee on United States China Relations (NCUSCR) and the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). During the visit, the group of scholars exchanged in-depth views with U.S. officials, think tanks, and scholars on issues such as China-U.S. relations. They also proposed suggestions on stabilizing and improving China-U.S. relations, and received a positive response.
