On the afternoon of June 18, 2020, the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU) and the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) held a video conference on issues related to the joint project of "China-Russia Cooperation in Africa". The Chinese attendees included Associate Professor Guan Guihai, Executive Vice President and Associate Professor Yu Tiejun from IISS, PKU, Associate Professor Liu Haifang and Assistant Professor Xu Liang from the School of International Studies (SIS), PKU, Associate Professor Wu Bingbing, Special Research Fellow, Assistant Professor Lei Shaohua and Zhao Minghao, Research Fellow from IISS, PKU. The Russian side included Andrey Kortunov, Director General of RIAC, Tatiana Bogdasarova, Project Director, Lora Chkoniya, Project Coordinator and Olga Kulkova, expert of RIAC and researcher at the African Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Chinese and Russian scholars conducted in-depth exchanges on the theme of "China-Russia Cooperation on Epidemic Prevention and Anti-epidemic Work in Africa", focusing on issues like new changes in China-Russia cooperation modes in Africa under the background of the covid-19 pandemic and the impact of global economic recession on African countries, etc. The participating scholars also discussed the China-Russia Joint Report version and some technical questions related to publishing.
