On November 5, 2020, Prof. Wang Jisi, President of the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU), attended the 250th lecture of Tsinghua University's "Lecture on Current Affairs" as a guest speaker. Other guest speakers included Zhu Feng, Executive Director of the Collaborative Innovation Center of South China Sea Studies and President of the Institute of International Relations, Nanjing University, Da Wei, Assistant President of University of International Relations, and Diao Daming, Associate Professor of the School of International Studies, Renmin University of China. Yang Rui, Partner of the International Affairs of TMTPOST and famous former host of CGTN’s program “Dialogue with Yang Rui”, moderated and commented on the lecture. Guests discussed the issues of “China-U.S. relations after the U.S. election”, interpreting the election situation and the future direction of China-U.S. relations for Tsinghua students and teachers and discussing the strategic pattern of global governance.

Prof. Wang Jisi presented his views on China-U.S. relations based on the important speech delivered by Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, at the symposium commemorating the 75th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s Anti-Japanese War and the World Anti-Fascist War. He said that, after all, we have only one vision both politically and economically, and that is to see the detente and stabilization of China-U.S. relations. However, there is no denying that China is the biggest challenge facing the U.S. in the future and a major strategic competitor, so we must fight resolutely against any risky challenges that could jeopardize China's development.
