Prof. Yu Tiejun Participates in "2021 National Security Forum"

On October 17th, 2021, a seminar titled "2021 National Security Forum: The Overall National Security Outlook and China's National Security in the New Era" was held at the Friendship Hotel in Beijing. The event was co-organized by the National Security Interdisciplinary Platform of Renmin University of China (RUC) and the School of International Relations of RUC.

In the sub-forum of national security discipline building, keynote speeches were given by Tang Yongsheng, Professor at the National Security College of National Defense University PLA China, Li Wenliang, Director of the Graduate School of the University of International relations, and Yu Tiejun, Vice President of the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU).

Prof. Yu Tiejun believed that the task faced by national security studies at universities is how to implement the discipline. He briefed on the evolution of the concept of national security and relevant experiences and lessons of national security education and research in foreign countries. In light of the construction of the national security discipline at PKU, he pointed out many specific problems in building national security studies, including discipline structure, curriculum, assessment standards and employment prospects.
