On December 2, 2022, Yu Tiejun, President of the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU) was invited to attend Beijing Xiangshan Forum Webinar, where he hosted discussion of the fourth session. The theme of this webinar is “Advancing Global Security Initiative and Jointly Safeguarding Peace and Development”, and the fourth session has “Major countries’ Pursuit of Self-Interests and Their Responsibility to Global Security” as its topic. Six Chinese and foreign experts participated the webinar online, including Graham Allison, Professor of Political Science at Harvard University, US, Hugh White, Emeritus Professor of Strategic Studies at the Australian National University, Zheng Yongnian, the Presidential Chair Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), Andrey Kortunov, Director general of the Russian International Affairs Council, Choi Shing Kwok, Retired Brigadier General and Director of Yusof Ishak Institute, Singapore, Researcher Wang Honggang, Assistant President of China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR) and concurrently Director of the CICIR Institute of American Studies. They exchanged ideas on how major countries should shoulder the responsibilities of maintaining global security, and answered questions of military attaches to China from various countries and media reporters attending the meeting.
