On the evening of April 23, 2026, Timothy Cheek, Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and Louis Cha Chair in Chinese Research at the Institute of Asian Research, University of British Columbia, visited the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU).

Professor Timothy Cheek met for a discussion with the following scholars: Associate Professor Guan Guihai, Executive Vice President of IISS, PKU; Professor Wang Yong, Director of the Center for International Political Economy; Associate Professor Lei Shaohua of the School of International Studies (SIS); Associate Professor Chen Shaofeng of SIS; Assistant Professor Liu Lu of SIS; Zhao Jianwei, Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Assistant Research Fellow at SIS; Associate Professor Niu Ke at the Department of History; Associate Professor Li Chen, Deputy Dean of the School of International Studies, Renmin University of China; Associate Professor Liu Ying, Director of the Center for Russian Studies, China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU); Li Mingze, Lecturer at the Institute of International Relations, CFAU; Guo Xinyi, Lecturer at the School of English and International Studies, Beijing Foreign Studies University; Xu Yanzhuo, Assistant Research Fellow at the Institute of World Economics and Politics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; and Zhang Yike, PhD Candidate in the Department of History, Yale University. The meeting was chaired by Executive Vice President Guan Guihai, and the participants engaged in an in-depth discussions on topics including Western studies on China and academic exchange between China and the West.
