On the afternoon of April 23, 2026, Paul Evans, Professor Emeritus at the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs, University of British Columbia, visited the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU).

The meeting was chaired by Professor Fan Shiming, who first delivered welcoming remarks on behalf of the host, extending a sincere welcome to Professor Paul Evans and his delegation. In the keynote session that followed, Professor Evans shared forward-looking reflections focused primarily on the outlook for China-Canada interaction amid the transformation of major-power relations. During the open discussion, the participating scholars engaged in an in-depth exchange on topics including China-Canada relations within the world order, China-U.S. strategic competition, and the prospects for multilateral cooperation.
