On the morning of December 4, 2025, the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU) hosted a symposium on "The International Situation in 2025" at the North Pavilion. The event brought together twenty experts from universities and research institutions including PKU, Renmin University of China, and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

Participants engaged in in-depth analyses and discussions on China–U.S. relations, China–Japan relations, the Russia–Ukraine conflict, and the situation in the Middle East. The symposium was chaired by Prof. Yu Tiejun, President of IISS, PKU and Professor at the School of International Studies (SIS), PKU.
