Forum Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence Successfully Held

On the afternoon of June 28, 2024, a forum commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence was successfully held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. The forum, titled "From the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence to Building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind," was organized by the China Public Diplomacy Association, the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and the China Institute of International Studies, with the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU) as a co-organizer.

The commemoration featured four sub-forums. The fourth sub-forum, which focused on "Promoting Consultative, Co-constructive, and Shared Global Governance," was chaired by Fu Ying, former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and former Ambassador to the United Kingdom. Prof. Yu Tiejun, President of IISS, PKU, delivered a speech at the fourth sub-forum.

Over 40 guests, including former politicians from South Africa, Croatia, Italy, and Ethiopia, representatives of international organizations, diplomats stationed in China, experts and scholars, friendly individuals, and media and business representatives, participated in the discussions. They exchanged views on the contemporary significance of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, as well as the opportunities and challenges these principles face today. They agreed that the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence remain relevant and should continue to be advocated to improve global governance and build a community with a shared future for mankind.

More than 120 audience members, including faculty and students from universities in Beijing, and journalists from China and abroad, attended activities of the fourth sub-forum.
