September 21, 2007, upon CISS’s invitation Prof. Zhu Weilie, Director of the Institute of Middle East Studies of Shanghai International Studies University, and Director of Middle East Key Research Project of Ministry of Education, delivered a brilliant speech on the topic of “Islamic Civilization and the World.” Throughout the speech, Prof. Zhu thoroughly analyzed subjects such as the importance of research on Islam, Islamic culture, US’s efforts on democratization of Middle Eastern Islamic countries, and terrorism, garnering much praise from those attending the speech.
