Symposium Themed "Dialogue at the Strategic Crossroads: China-U.S. Cooperation in the Middle East and North Africa" Is Held in IISS

On February 22-23, 2017, the symposium themed "Dialogue at the Strategic Crossroads: China-US Cooperation in the Middle East and North Africa" was held at the North Pavilion of Peking University (PKU), which was jointly organized by Institute of International & Strategic Studies (IISS), PKU and the Near East South Asia (NESA) Center for Strategic Studies, National Defense University. Over 20 experts from various institutes and research centers had frank and productive discussions on several topics, such as interests of China and the U.S. in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, the current conflicts in the MENA region, competition between Iran, Saudi Arabia and Turkey in MENA region, and cooperation areas and methods for China and the U.S. in the MENA region. The experts were from the following institutes and research centers: IISS, PKU, China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, China Institute of International Studies, Institute of International Relations, Tsinghua University, The Institute for International Strategic Studies of the Central Party School of the Communist Party of China, NESA Center for Strategic Studies, National Defense University, Center for a New American Security, The Washington Institute for Near East Policy, Yale Jackson Institute for Global Affairs and Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies.
