Seminar: "Negotiation in Major Powers Relations "

On October 22, 2022, the academic seminar on "Negotiation in Major Powers Relations " jointly organized by Office of International Relations, Peking University, School of International Studies, Peking University, the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University and Harvard University Negotiation Project was held as a video conference. 

William Ury, famous negotiation and mediation expert at Harvard University, was invited to attend and gave a speech on his 45-year research and practical experience in the field of negotiation and mediation and its applicability in the current relations among major powers.

He said that major powers, especially China and the United States, should understand each other's differences, strengthen communication and dialogue, reduce misunderstandings, promote cooperation and jointly address global challenges on the basis of common interests. 

Subsequently, Guan Guihai, Executive Vice President of Peking University Institute of International Strategic Studies, Zhang Qingmin and Wang Dong, professors of School of International Studies, Peking University, Jie Dalei, associate professor of School of International Studies, Peking University, Qi Haotian, assistant professor of School of International Studies, Peking University, and other experts had a heated discussion and in-depth exchange with William Ury on the obstacles and solutions to Sino-U.S. communication and dialogue. The meeting was hosted by Yu Tiejun, President of the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University.
