On the afternoon of December 9, 2025, a high-level delegation from the South Korea National Assembly Research Service (NARS) visited the Institute for International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU). Lee Kwan-hu (Chief of NARS, Vice-ministerial level), accompanied by Lee Jeong-jin (Political and Parliamentary Group Leader), Kim Yei-kyoung (Legislative Research Officer), and Lee Hee-seo (Research Planning Division Chief). They were received by Prof. Yu Tiejun, President of IISS, PKU; Prof. Wang Jisi, Founding President of IISS, PKU; Associate Professor Gui Yongtao, Vice President of IISS, PKU; Associate Professor Li Tingting, Chair of the Department of Korean Language and Culture, School of Foreign Languages, PKU; Associate Professor Song Wenzhi of the same department; Associate Professor Qi Haotian, Senior Research Fellow at IISS, PKU and faculty member of the School of International Studies (SIS), PKU; as well as undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students from SIS, PKU. The two sides held a symposium centered around the topic of "How to Promote Mutual Understanding between China and Korea".

President Yu Tiejun extended a warm welcome to Chief Lee Kwan-hu and his delegation, noting that the visit was an important initiative to implement the consensus reached at the China-Korea Summit in late October on strengthening the strategic cooperative relationship between the two countries. In his remarks, Chief Lee Kwan-hu observed that China and Korea's close geographic and cultural bonds position the two nations for significant cooperation. He highlighted the importance of strengthening engagement in culture, education, and economics for building mutual understanding and trust, and called for vigorous promotion of youth exchanges as the cornerstone of the two countries' enduring friendship. The participating scholars discussed the international situation, the foreign policies of China and Korea, and the state of bilateral relations. Both sides agreed that fostering a mature, pragmatic, and resilient China-Korea relationship serves the shared interests of both countries and contributes to peace and stability in Northeast Asia. At the symposium, several Korean students at PKU shared their experiences of studying and living in China, expressing their determination to study hard and play their role in advancing China-Korea friendship and strengthening people-to-people ties between the two nations.
The symposium was chaired by President Yu Tiejun.
