IISS, PKU Ranks 11th in 2016 Best University Affiliated Think Tanks

On January 26th, 2017, the 2016 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report was released simultaneously in over 80 different places all over the world including the World Bank and the UN Headquarters. Among the "175 most influential global think tanks", 9 of them are from China, namely China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR) (ranks 33rd), Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) (ranks 38th), China Institute of International Studies (CIIS) (ranks 40th),  Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC) (ranks 52nd), Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) (ranks 74th), Institute of International and Strategic Studies, Peking University (IISS, PKU) (ranks 80th), , Unirule Institute of Economics (UNIRULE) (ranks 105th), Center for China and Globalization (CCG) (ranks 111st), and Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China (CIFS, RUC) (ranks 149th).

IISS, PKU ranks 11th in Best University Affiliated Think Tanks (page 127), 80th in the Global Think Tanks (page 49), and 24th in China, India, Japan, and the Republic of Korea (page 62).

Background knowledge: the Global Go To Think Tank Index Report is prepared under the leadership of the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) of the University of Pennsylvania and has lasted for 10 years. Due to analyzing the effect of think tanks of countries in the world in the aspect of governmental and social development, this index report establishes a set of research system of objectivity and equity and proceeds tracking study and comprehensive ranking of the think tanks every year to enhance capacity building of global think tanks and improve their performance.
