On January 27th, 2016, the 2015 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report was released simultaneously in over 80 different places all over the world including the World Bank and the UN Headquarters. Among the "175 most influential global think tanks", 9 of them are from China, namely Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) (ranks 31th), China Institute of International Studies (CIIS) (ranks 35th), China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR) (ranks 39th), Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC) (ranks 50th), Institute of International and Strategic Studies, Peking University (IISS, PKU) (ranks 64st), Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) (ranks 72st), Unirule Institute of Economics (UNIRULE) (ranks 103th), Center for China and Globalization (CCG) (ranks 110th), and Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China (CIFS, RUC) (ranks 150th).
IISS, PKU ranks 64st in the Global Think Tanks (page 50), 23th in Top Think Tanks in China, India, Japan, and the Republic of Korea (page 63), and 11th in Best University Affiliated Think Tanks (pages 127).

Due to analyzing the effect of think tanks of countries in the world in the aspect of governmental and social development, this index report establishes a set of research system of objectivity and equity and proceeds tracking study and comprehensive ranking of the think tanks every year to enhance capacity building of global think tanks and improve their performance.
