On the morning of May 16, 2025, Mr. Takehiko Ogihara, Counsellor at the Embassy of Japan in China, visited the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU). He held discussions with Associate Professor Gui Yongtao, Vice President of IISS, on topics including China–Japan relations and the international situation.

Counsellor Takehiko Ogihara noted that since last year, China–Japan relations have shown positive momentum, and the Japanese side hopes to further advance high-level exchanges and economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. Associate Professor Gui Yongtao stressed that the sound and stable development of China–Japan relations serves the interests of both peoples and expressed the expectation of deepening academic and cultural exchanges.
