President Yu Tiejun and Prof. Wang Yong Attend the 11th Virtual Meeting of the CoC

On February 6, 2025, Prof. Yu Tiejun, President of the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU), attended the 11th virtual meeting of the Council of Councils, organized by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). Wang Yong, Professor at the School of International Studies, Director of the American Studies Center, and Director of the Center for International Political Economy at PKU, also participated in the meeting.

A total of 27 think tanks from 24 countries took part in the event. Two Chinese think tanks were present, namely, IISS, PKU and the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies. The meeting focused on the potential impact of Donald Trump’s “new policies” on global trade. Both professors engaged in the discussion and provided their remarks.

The Council of Councils is a global think tank network initiated and established by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). It aims to connect leading foreign policy institutions from around the world in a dialogue on issues of global governance and multilateral cooperation, pool the wisdom to address common threats and sponsor innovative ideas for advice and solutions to the public policy debate and decision-making process of the member states. The Council is now made up of well-known think tanks from 24 countries, and its membership is roughly similar to that of the Group of 20 (G20).
