On the afternoon of December 18, 2024, Mr. Tomoyuki Yoshida, President of the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA), led a delegation to visit the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU). He held in-depth discussions with Associate Prof. Gui Yongtao, Vice President of IISS, on topics including China-Japan relations, Japan’s domestic and foreign policies, U.S.-Japan relations, and Japan-South Korea relations.

President Yoshida noted that high-level and institutionalized dialogues between China and Japan are conducive to the sound and stable development of bilateral relations. Vice President Gui Yongtao remarked that the recent summit between Chinese and Japanese leaders in Lima led to important consensuses, playing a significant role in advancing bilateral ties. Both sides expressed hope for strengthened exchange and cooperation between China and Japan across various fields in the future.
