On Feb. 23, 2017, Colonel Joachim Isacsson, specialist of the strategic trend project and Simon Cole, Assistant Dean for the project, both from the Development Concepts and Doctrine Centre (DCDC), of the British Ministry of Defence, paid a visit to the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU), accompanied by Major Matt Hayward, Assistant Military Attaché from the Military attaché's office, British Embassy in China. They exchanged ideas with IISS experts on issues with common interests, such as environment, energy, the current Asia-Pacific security situation and future development trend. The panel discussion was chaired by Yu Tiejun, Vice President of IISS and participated by Prof. Zha Daojiong and Associate Professor Jie Dalei from the School of International Studies, PKU as well as Doc. Li Chen from the School of International Studies, Renmin University of China, etc.
DCDC is a think tank affiliated to the British Ministry of Defence. The series report entitled “Global Strategic Trend” it edits and publishes aims to describe and forecast the strategic environment for national defence and security in the middle of this century. So far, DCDC is compiling “Global Strategic Trend-to 2050” , the 6th version of its series report.
