President Wang Jisi Pays a Visit to Washington

From Oct. 23rd to 26th, 2017, Wang Jisi, President of the Institute of International and Strategic Studies, Peking University (IISS, PKU), paid a visit to Washington to attend the Symposium entitled “Building an Asia-Pacific Community, a Sino-US Joint Research Program” co-held by School of Advanced International Studies, (SAIS) Johns Hopkins University and IISS, PKU. David M. Lampton, the American program director, and Wang Jisi co-hosted the meeting. Gui Yongtao, Assistant President of IISS, Li Wei, Associate Professor of the School of International Studies (SIS), Renmin University of China (RUC), Wu Xiangning, Assistant Professor of the School of Government and Administration, University of Macau (UM) and Hu Ran, the Chinese program director also attended the meeting. During this visit to Washington, Wang Jisi and his colleagues also met Trump Government officials, including Susan Thornton, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Leah Bray, Director for China at National Security Council, Josh Cartin, Director for Asian Economic and Security Affairs, Randall G. Schriver, who was just nominated as Assistant Secretary of Defense for Asian Pacific Affairs by President Trump, Douglas Paal, Vice President for Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, heads of the think-tanks and experts on international issues, with whom Wang Jisi and his colleagues exchanged ideas on some specific issues, such as Sino-US relations.
