From April 6 to 19, 2025, Professor Wang Jisi, Founding President of the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU), and Professor at the School of International Studies (SIS), PKU, together with Hu Ran, Ph.D. from SIS, PKU, and Postdoctoral Fellow and Assistant Research Fellow at the Institute of American Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), visited Boston, New York City, Princeton, and Washington, D.C. at the invitation of Harvard University, the Asia Society Policy Institute, Princeton University, and the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). During their academic research and exchange activities, they held candid discussions with American counterparts on topics including U.S. domestic politics, the international situation, and China–U.S. relations.
On April 7, Wang Jisi and Hu Ran visited Harvard University, where they engaged in multiple dialogues with faculty and students on issues such as China–U.S. relations. Professor Wang also held extensive discussions with Graham Allison, Anthony Saich, and Joseph Nye, Professors at the Harvard Kennedy School, as well as Robert Blackwill, former U.S. Ambassador to India and Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).

From April 8 to 10, Wang Jisi and Hu Ran met in New York with Stephen Orlins and Jan Berris, President and Vice President of the National Committee on U.S.–China Relations ((NCUSCR)), respectively; Daniel Russel, Vice President of the Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI) and former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs; and Thomas Christensen, Professor at the School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University, among others.
In his capacity as a member of the International Advisory Board of Chubb Group, Professor Wang Jisi attended the company’s annual meeting from April 9 to 10, where he met with Evan Greenberg, Chairman of Chubb and Vice Chair of NCUSCR. He also delivered a lecture at ASPI titled “U.S. Policy toward China under the Trump Administration”.

On April 11–12, Wang Jisi attended the annual conference of the “Reimagining World Order” Project at Princeton University, where he met with G. John Ikenberry, Professor at Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs, among others.

On April 17, Xie Feng, Chinese Ambassador to the United States, and Peng Douyi, Minister-Counsellor, met with and hosted a dinner for Wang Jisi and Hu Ran. Ambassador Xie shared important insights on issues including China–U.S. relations.

From April 13 to 19, Wang Jisi and Hu Ran met in Washington, D.C. with a number of U.S. officials, including Ivan Kanapathy, Senior Director for Asian Affairs at the National Security Council(NSC); Bolton Ford, Director for China at NSC; Jonathan Fritz, Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs; Kevin Kim, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and Director of the Office of China Coordination; Duncan Wilson, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for China and Mongolia; Jenny May, Director of the Office of China at the Department of Commerce; and James Sessions, Senior Director of the Department of Defense China Task Force, among others. Wang Jisi and Hu Ran also met with Kevin Rudd, Australian Ambassador to the United States and former Prime Minister of Australia.

On April 16, Wang Jisi held discussions with several researchers from the Congressional Research Service (CRS) as well as staff members of the U.S. Congress.
On April 17, Scott Kennedy organized a dinner discussion for Wang Jisi, which was attended by a number of American experts and scholars.
Wang Jisi and Hu Ran expressed their gratitude for the support and guidance of the Office of International Relations, PKU, the School of International Studies, PKU, the Institute of American Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), and the relevant leaders.
