Australian Ambassador to China Scott Dewar Visits IISS, PKU with his Escort

On April 16, 2024, His Excellency Scott Dewar, Australian Ambassador to China, along with Political Counselor Mark Sawers and First Secretary Jessica Tang, paid a visit to the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU). They discussed topics such as Australia's foreign policy, U.S.-China relations, and China-Australia relations with Prof. Yu Tiejun, President of IISS, and contract research fellow Associate Professor Jie Dalei, Senior Researcher and Assistant Professor Qi Haotian at IISS.


Ambassador Dewar emphasized that China is Australia's largest trading partner and welcomed increasing dialogue between China and the United States, viewing it as an important step toward regional stability. He also stated that global issues such as climate change and artificial intelligence can only be resolved through international cooperation. President Yu Tiejun expressed hope that Australia would play a positive role in improving U.S.-China relations.
