Currently president of Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs. From 1984-1993 he was the Deputy Division Chief, Division Chief, Deputy Director-General and Director-General, Department of Personnel, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was appointed as Ambassador at the Chinese Embassy in Singapore from 1993-1995. From 1995-1997 Yang Wenchang was Ambassador of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1997-2003, he became the Assistant Minister and then Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Yang Wenchang was appointed as a Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region from 2003-2006. Since 2006, he has been the president of Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs.
