As a career diplomat, she used to serve in various capacities in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which include Attaché at the Chinese Embassy in London, Staff Member/Third Secretary at the Department of Translation and Interpretation, Third Secretary/Second Secretary at the Department of Western European Affairs, Second secretary/First Secretary at the Chinese Permanent Mission to the United Nations, First Secretary/Director/ Counsellor/Deputy Director General at the Policy Planning Department, Chinese Ambassador to Norway and Ambassador for Korean Peninsula Affairs.
