On June 26 the Australian ambassador to China, Dr. Geoff Raby, visited the School of International Studies. Chair of the SIS and Director of the CISS, Professor Wang Jisi, presided over the meeting. The respective sides exchanged their views on issues such as Asia-Pacific cooperation. 

Professor Pan Guoping of the Institute of International Strategic Studies at the Central Party School and the Australian Embassy Secretary, Mr. Richard Neumann, also attended the meeting.

Former Ambassador to Iraq visits CISS to attend the forum on "The Iraq Problem and the Middle East Situation"

The Center for International & Strategic Studies of Peking University invited the Director of the NPC Foreign Affairs Committee and Honorary Chair of the CISS, former Minister of Foreign Affairs Professor Li Zhaoxing, and the former Chinese ambassador to Iraq, Chen Xiaodong, who had just returned from Iraq, to hold a forum on “The Iraq problem and the Middle East situation”.

After a concise introduction by Professor Li, Mr. Chen talked about the current situation in Iraq, along with U.S. policy toward Iraq, and China’s relationship with Iraq. Mr. Chen provided very informative and vivid analysis during the question and answer session. 

The deputy director of the CISS, Professor Yuan Ming, chaired the meeting. Among the participants of the forum were scholars from the CISS and students from the School of International Studies at Peking University.
