US Assistant Secretary of State Hill visits CISS and delivers speech

November 1, 2007, upon invitation from CISS Director Wang Jisi, Christopher Hill, US Assistant Secretary of State, Head of US delegation to the Six-Party Talks on the North Korean Nuclear Issue, visited CISS, Peking University. Hill spoke on the topics of North Korean Nuclear Issue, US-North Korea Relations, progress of peace on the Korean Peninsula, present prospects of Six-Party talks, and the future of East Asian security mechanisms. In his speech, Hill spoke highly of China’s efforts on resolving the North Korean Nuclear Issue, and believed that US and China can carry out further cooperation in the realm of East Asian Peace and Security. After his speech, a Q&A session was held and Hill responded to questions from the audience.



Among Hill’s delegation included US National Security Council’s Director for China, Paul Haenle; and six members from the US Department of State and US Embassy. About 30 students and teachers from PKU’s School of International Studies attended Hill’s speech.
