On March 8, 2014, a forum themed“Sino-Japanese Relations: Review and Rethink” was held in Room C105, School of International Studies (SIS), Peking University (PKU). Based on the IISS research report, “Historical Background and Crux of the Deterioration of Sino-Japanese Relations,” the forum invited scholars from academic institutions including Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), PKU, Renmin University, China University of Foreign Affairs and Chongqing University, as well as representatives from related government departments, state-owned and foreign enterprises. Representatives from the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, Japan, who provided financial support for the project, also attended the forum. Director of the project, Associate Prof. Gui Yongtao, hosted the forum. Attendees presented their comments and suggestions for the research report of the group, and reviewed recent changes in Sino-Japanese relations and the reasons from multiple aspects including politics, economics, culture and history, providing various perspectives for studying Sino-Japanese relations.
