March 18, 2008. Professor of Government and Politics, Professor George H. Quester of the University of Maryland, visited CISS and gave a talk on the topic of “US-China Relations and the Korean Peninsula”. Professor Quester is a well known scholar in American Security Studies. His research interests include national defense strategy, arms control, and U.S. diplomacy. 

Professor Quester’s notable works include Nuclear First Strike: Consequences of a Broken Taboo (2005), Offense and Defense in the International System (2002), Security Studies for the 21st Century (1997), and Deterrence Before Hiroshima（1986）. Recently, Offense and Defense in the International System has been translated by CISS and published by the Shanghai People’s Publishing House. This particular work has been very influential in the establishment of offense-defense theory in the study of international relations.
