On the afternoon of May 15th, 2015, the Institute of International and Strategic Studies (IISS), Peking University (PKU) held a council meeting & "China and International Order" Seminar at its new office building, during which council member of IISS and nearly 30 guests from other think tanks in China carried out in-depth discussions on the topic. The seminar was presided over by Prof. Yuan Ming, Vice President of IISS. Mr. Dai Bingguo, Honorary President of IISS and former State Councilor attended the seminar and gave a speech.
The four-hour long seminar was divided into two sessions: topic of the first session was "Characteristics of the Current World Situation and International Order" and topic of the second session was "Relations between China and the Current International Order".
After the 18thNational Congress of the Communist Party of China, China's international status has been further enhanced and China's foreign affairs have been unprecedentedly active. Recently, China's significant moves such as successfully holding the APEC Beijing Summit, proposing the strategic conception of "One Belt One Road", and preparing to construct the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) etc., has drawn increasingly extensive international attention. The relation between China and the existing international order has become one of the central topics of the current world politics. The seminar gathered the first-class experts and scholars of the think tank community to exchange point of views, so as to acquire new inspirations and thoughts on key topics, make contributions to the positive development of Chinese and world situation, as well as provide guiding thoughts for further research of IISS.
