Prof. Yu Tiejun, President of IISS, PKU, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. The seminar was chaired by tenured Associate Professor Guo Jie of the School of International Studies(SIS), PKU.

The North Pavilion Salon aims to promote in-depth dialogue between theoretical research and policy research, and provide a platform for scholars to exchange ideas. The experts present focused on the security agenda in Latin America in the post-pandemic era, discussing issues such as public safety of Latin America, U.S. security strategy towards Latin America, and China's security cooperation with Latin America. They also touched upon specific areas like social security, organized crime, and cybersecurity. The experts pointed out that in recent years, public safety has increasingly become a significant and urgent issue affecting the development of Latin American countries. This issue is the result of various structural barriers intermingled and interacted with complex factors. Additionally, other traditional and non-traditional security challenges have become more prominent compared to pre-pandemic times, and these issues deserve full attention and research.
