The lecture will start with the problems facing the European Union (EU) since the collapse of the Soviet Union and the massive enlargement which followed. It will then cover the main economic, technological and geopolitical challenges the EU will have to overcome if it is to become a significant actor on the world scene in the course of the 21st Century.

Thierry de Montbrial

Currently Executive Chairman of the French Institute of International Relations (IFRI), which he founded in 1979. He is Professor Emeritus at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers.
